Whitbread Trial – May 9th
Welcome back to trials at Vickers Farm. Sunday’s weather proved really good to welcome nearly 60 riders and a full complement of ten observers for the first trial run by the Loughborough Club in 2021.
Congratulations and a big round of thanks to the section setting team who set out in appalling conditions on Saturday and got the sections just right for the conditions on Sunday. Well done to the winners on all the routes, Billy Craig with a Zero Score on the Red Route and ties for best performance on the Yellow Route, again on Zero scores with Andy Butt and Ollie Waring, with a three-way tie again on Zero on the White route with Edward Gardner, Mick James and John Lawrence.
Our next trial is on June 13, entries again via the ACU website, entries will open at 07:30 on 22 May.
Hyde Trial – June 13
This event is shown on the Centre Calendar as a Centre Championship event. We have agreed with the Centre that the Championship event should be moved to our September trial when restrictions should be less onerous.
Provided that the COVID-19 restrictions have been relaxed, we will increase the entry limit to 80 and we will bring the two 50/50 routes back.
Entries will again be via the ACU website entry system. Entries should be opened at 07:30 on 22 May, so put that in your calendar.
Susan Harris Charity Trial – August 15
With restrictions likely to be still in place we have decided to run the event this year on one day only. As the course is two laps of 20 sections at Vickers Farm and Rileys Railway we feel that we can accommodate 100 riders.
After the necessary expenses all income is donated to Charity. Over the last 10 years in excess of £15000 has been given thanks to our Section Sponsors, Cake sales, Raffle and you the riders for attending. This year we are not intending to run a raffle, so the Entry Fee will be increased to £20 Adult and £15 Youth to help make up the shortfall. There will also be a box for any donations you may wish to give.
Section Sponsors are always welcome, please contact Gary.
With 20 Sections we need 20 observers, so if you can help, again please contact Gary.
The Harris Family have suggested that the Charity that we support this year is concerned with Melanoma, and we have chosen Melanoma Focus which is concerned with research into Melanoma (skin cancer) and has helplines to support patients with melanoma.
Looking forward to getting back to trials again. See you in May.
